Children in poverty with a dream to go to college

Secondary (high school) education is typically three years and is the financial responsibility of the student’s family.

 

Only about 40% of rural students even attend high school because of the cost. Many decide to drop out in middle school. They pursue a trade to start earning income for their struggling families.

Students from the remote area of Yichun had to be ranked in the top 5% in their middle school to be admitted to Yichun First High School; however, they face new challenges of financial burden.

​

Xinyu lost his father to cancer and his mom suffers from illness. The school offered his mom a job at the cafeteria, and provided free lodging for both of them. Shuo Sun is a cheerful kid who lost his mom and lives with his father who has a disability. Xinle is an orphan who lives on government support to get by with her grandparent.

For the price of a Starbucks, they can eat three meals at the government-aided school cafeteria. Founding Future is set up to connect people eager to help those in need. Education is key to break the cycle of poverty. Our solution is to support children in poverty by helping them through their education and realize their college dreams.
